Email problem with iphone

Hey all

Just got an iphone from a friend and set up my email on it. I can get emails just fine but I am having issues sending them.

I get an error message saying the email address I am trying to send to has rejected the server.

Can anyone shed any light on this? The address I am using is my own realworldhypnotherapy.com one.

Thanks

Matt

you don't need to use their smtp server...
but you probably do need to set up authentication on the outgoing server (usually same username and password as incoming), and turn off encryption / security which the iphone tries to turn on...

That depends if his email provider does SMTP :) I know Orange is a pain in the arse :(

Yes, but there is no easy way of knowing if that server will allow relaying by authenticated users.

This is a support question that only the email service provider can answer.

It does - it is a GoDaddy server.

on my iphone - it is set as

advanced
use SSL - off (key ommission many make)
authentication - password
server port 110

under smtp server
the same - but server port of 587 - this can often be a solution - the default is 25, but this is often blocked so 587 is an alternative - pretty sure this is not blocked on the GoDaddy server...

Hi Matt, I hope you have managed to sort out your problem now?

I know it isn't the exact answer to your question but I would advise you to setup a GMail or Online Exchange account so you can sync email, calendar and contacts and you don't have to worry about fiddly email settings and relaying. There is a blog post on our website to explain more if you want. Hope that helps.
