Email marketing data provider? Any help?

I know this is a question thats been posted a thousand times, but i'm still non the wiser!

It seems the following are ones to review:

  • Marketing file
  • Thomson
  • Experian
  • Corpdata

Our criteria is (in order of most important):

  1. Low cost
  2. A vast range of B2B & B2C data available
  3. Min order qty of less than 1000
  4. Agency discounts

Any help?

We're based in Swindon, Wiltshire. It seems the following is up our street:

datab2b.co.uk/products/Wiltshire-Business-Database.html
5,840 emails
£145
= £0.02p per email

buyonline.marketingfile.com/xinfo/mx.aspx?c=75 (will shortlist to location)
aprox £0.10p per email

Any other?

I am always very sceptical of cheap email data or any cheap data really. The whole point of a direct marketing campaign is to communicate relevant information directly to people who may be interested in receiving it for their job. It doesn't matter if that is by email, mail or telephone etc.

To be able to do this you need to be able to segment the data and target relevant segments. Normally a list scrapped from various websites which is predominantly info@ is useless.

I don't know if that is the case with the companies that you have highlighted as I have no experience of them.

Poor data costs money, time and most importantly can damage your reputation and in some cases see you in court or getting fined.

Good quality email data is very hard to get and is expensive to maintain.

I don't mean to be rude, and this may not apply to you, but cheap data that hasn't been sourced correctly is one of the reasons that the direct marketing industry has a bad reputation and often shows a business that doesn't care about their customers.

It generally producers very poor results as well so please be careful when finding your data provider.
