Hi

I have got hold of approximately 14000 valid email addresses from a company gone bust, almost all of them were their customers or who have ordered a mobile sim from their website, actually it was small mobile company. 95% of the customers are who call abroad and probably from ethnic background.

I was wondering what can I do with this list, I have it from nearly 4 months now, somebody told me to sell it to companies like moneygram, or western union who target very similar audience. Is it possible to sell it, if yes than for roughly how much?

You can't just sell a list of personal information. Any company that holds information of this sort is meant to be registered to something or other, can't think of the name off the top of my head. You should read through the data protection act. Unless you have stated to these customers that their information may be passed on to other companies you need to destroy all record of their information as you cannot hold personal information that is no longer being used for its original purpose.

If you have some that have agreed to be past on information then I'd absolutely take advantage and sell it on. I've never sold any customer information on before but I've sure had enough people trying to sell customer information to myself. I would pull up a group of possible buyers, then (because I personally have no idea how much you could sell that for), find that a bit of old fashioned market research is best. Find companies that sell client information such as custom lists dot net. Ok so it's american but that's just an example. I'm no expert but its a place to start.

Now thats very discouraging.. perhaps thats why they say if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.:)

But I am sure that list must be sold 1000s of times already and most if not all UKBF members will be part of it without knowing.

My list is not used yet by 3rd parties, plus its very specific audience, and all people on the list have actually clicked the newsletter links which company sent via mailchimp. Anyway thanks for pointing out ebay reality, which is perhaps I am not worried about too much. I see people are offering full dynamic website for £39 and 10 million backlinks for £10.
