Electronic Locks

Hi Speedy,

It really depends on what you're wanting.

Electronic locks are not to be used as a "Security Product" but more of an ease of access - simple reason being if the Electronic Lock fails, i.e. loses power then the property would be unsecure.

I know of a number of companies in the UK that do build/create specific products.

Not necessarily, fail-secure locks will remain in the locked position if the power fails so they are secure enough to use as a main lock!

For commercial properties i.e main access routes etc they should all be fail safe (unlocked) and linked with fire alarm so they release for ease of exit but this isn't required at home.

I see no reason why electronic fail-secure locks can't be used for primary security at home. Finger print recognition on the other hand, that's a pain in the arse that I've not been too keen on, even if it is reliable often the users don't know what they're doing and still can't get in!

Proximity fobs are the way forward :D
