Me and my father are opening an electronic cigarette shop/vaping lounge. We were wondering what other products we could sell that arnt related to electronic cigarettes? Such as books, coffee, newspaper, cakes. A friend of my dad also sells bankrupt stock such as straighteners and things like that, so we was thinking of selling them aswell. Can you think of any other things we could sell that would be profitable attract custom?

Those electronic cigarettes are a great idea and for such a good cause. Hows the plan going?
I would say if it was setup as a proper cafe with good coffee/espresso and a selection of nice tea that should be enough. Provide the papers and magazines for free and have wi-fi.

Could you test it as a pop-up shop first?

e-joint?

Hmm now that's something worth looking into! It doesn't give the "high" that a joint would give, it just gives the same flavour...

Bargain! Think I've just sold myself an idea! :D

Oh wait... isn't that similar to a bong?! :D

Would there be a big enough market selling them, they are already available in most petrol stations and Cigarette shops and market stalls, so could be very strong compertition and low profit margins to run a shop

THe margins are pretty strong but the issues for a B&M shop is the future legislation. Any shop would need to be on a very short lease.

The market leader is the Ego T range but online competition is very strong.

I would be very cautious of e-cigs at the moment guys, the government and others have a plan to stop them. making it illegal to sell anything with more than a moderate amount of nicotine and making them a prescription drug meaning only large pharmaceuticals can make them. this means that not just anyone will be able to sell them. those sneaky government types. might not happen but could kill of a lot of people.

There has been much hype over the past few years with regards to the safety issues of e-cigarettes.

I'm sure its in the interest of the government to have these banned, simply for the reason that as this market grows and people move away from tobacco cigarettes, then their tax revenue will decline.

USA is a good marker as they not only have more rigorous health controls with the FDA regulations, as well as the large toboacco companies looking to have these 'tarnished' as a health hazard (LOL).

So far, they are being sold openly in USA as well as in other countries.

As long as you have all the required certification and buy your products from the correct factories, there is huge potential that this market will continue to grow.

Best of luck on the 'vapour Lounge'

Legal, maybe. Allowed? Well only in some places; not on aircraft, not in Weatherspoons and I've been asked to put mine away in various pubs & eateries.

    Legal, definately.

Unfortunately, people are ignorant to the laws, and the establisments you have mentioned, take the ignorance of the laws of their patrons into account, in order not to have any potential problems.

The establishments want their premises (and airlines) to be seen to be 'smoke free', not only 'cigarette free'.

We live in a world of political correctness, and thats the problem.

If it looks like a cigarette, has smoke coming out of it, like a cigarette, it probably is a cigarette..........wrong!

New regulations being proposed by the EU could result in the ban of electronic cigarettes being sold commercially.
The regulation in question would ban any product containing nicotine concentration exceeding 4mg per ml from being sold unless it was officially authorised as medicinal.

Products like the nicotine patch and other 'quit smoking' products are classed as medicinal, so they will be unaffected by the new regulation, but electronic cigarettes are another matter altogether.

Companies which sell e-cigarettes are deeply upset about the proposed update to the European tobacco products directive, claiming their products are recreational and should continue to be classed as such.

The new rule is one of several proposed updates to the European tobacco products directive which, according to the EU, seeks to make smoking in all forms less attractive to young people in order to discourage tobacco initiation and improve public health in member states.

Why don't they ban cigarettes full stop? (if they are seeking to discourage tobacco initiation)

Perhaps there is a hidden agenda..............called tax revenue (which e-cigarettes will not attract)

Isn't it just the Uk where smokers are taxed to death? If it is then loss of taxation revenue wouldn't be the reason behind it.

I think most countries in the EU have a high tax revenue on tobacco products.

As does most of the western world.

The manufacturing cost of an average packet of 20 cigarettes costs in the region of 30p

    Hi,

Apart from your discussion, i would like to ask you a question. Is electronic cigarette giving more damage to your health from the normal one?

Sorry for disturbing but i really wanna know.

NO, the concern is about the monitoring of the liquid in the refills.

As long as you buy the refills from certified manufacturers, who are also making the e-cigarettes, and these comply with your countrie's regulations, then there are no problems associated with them in any research done so far.

The main focus lies with what action governments will take if they see the loss of revenue they will have as more and more people switch from normal cigarettes to e-cigarettes.

Until there is proven any harm can come from e-cigarettes, they do not have a leg to stand on, although I'm sure they will be doing their best to find something in which they can impose controls and restrict the sales.

In short, and in answer to your question...............Is there any damage to your health when smoking a Shisha / Narghile / Hookah pipe ?

    Happy e-smoking.

I'm an ex smoker turned electronic cigarette smoker, you are right re the refills and where the liquid is used etc - I read that these from intellicig , they manufacture their own 'e liquid' in the UK rather than importing from elsewhere - the benefits I guess are that it has been tested and approved in the UK.

We use SGS and Intertek to certify the refills that we sell to our customers from the factories that we use.

They are both internationally recognised, and probably do the testing in the UK too.

It's important to ensure that the refills are properly certified.

I would highly suggest buying from a UK wholesaler, buying direct from china opens up a lot of potential problems, as well as needing a lot of initial start up knowledge.

We wholesale to a lot of eCig shops around the country, as well as manufacturing our own Eliquid in the UK, using UK ingredients.

Shoot Sam an email, he will be able to sort you out with pricing / more advice.

It depends if you are a retailer or wholesaler.

China is good as long as you can buy the quantities required.

If you can save 30% - 40% plus, then that's the way to go.

It very much depends on the quantities you buy.

There is a lot more involved than simply being able to order 'quantity' - Correct labeling of Liquids / Carts, WEEE directives, weights and measures ect.

You become the manufacturer by default when ordering from China, so unless you have all affairs in order, product liability insurance ect, its a risky business.

The thread was started by someone looking to open a retail store, so ordering direct from China would not be effective for the amount of stock held.

Yes, I quite agree with you regarding the labelling and directives.

We work with USA importers on these products, which generally have a more stringent level of certification than the EU.

Yes, the thread was started by someone looking to open a retail store, and my suggestion is for anybody testing any market, they should buy locally first, then when the opportunity is right and the quantities are sufficient, then work directly with the factories.

This is a natural progression in any commodity in any business.

You must also take into account that a thread evolves and the discussion moves on from the original OP.

It is shared and viewed by many people on this forum, and they can take out of it, what they feel is relevant to their business.

I think all the comments posted on this thread are not only informative, they are also related to the OP.

Best of luck with your business.
