Effectiveness Of Door 2 Door Leaflets?

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the £90. I would issue a claim online against the man himself. It only costs £25 which is added to the debt. It will definitely make you feel better and give him a nasty shock! www (dot) moneyclaim (dot) gov (dot) uk

I personally had a good experience with having leaflets delivered. I used a company for 5,000 flyers in Lancing, Shoreham and Worthing in Sussex. We had a lot of calls from the drop, so I know they were delivered properly. The guy who organises it there is called Peter and can be contacted on 01293 404422 or www (dot) leaflets (dot) tv

Unfortunately, there are many dodgy leaflet distribution companies around and it can be hard to guess which are reliable.

(Good luck with the court summons and hopefully he will think twice before cheating someone else!);)

Do not bother with any leaflet campaign. I was in a mortgage company in sub prime in 2004 ironically it went bust, that is another story. However we did 5k leaflet drop and got 3 calls from it that was in the boom days. You have no hope. I would spend the money treating you and your partner to a night in the lakes as that would be more remembered than a leaflet drop.

This is a very old thread, and your post could just as easily prove you did your leafleting wrong, so its not particularly useful.

I Love Spreadsheets

I live in the middle of Trefforest which is a university town, with every other house full to the brim with students. As a result we have lots of take aways and other businesses designed to serve the student market. As a result we get shed loads of leaflets and menus through our door on a daily basis.

Last summer something really odd happened. A local pizza place started hiding funny things in their menus and it seemed to really stick. People would read them looking for the jokes and hidden messages (when was the last time you read a take away menu). A month or two later and all the take-away's were doing it. A few months later no one did it.

For a short while that first take away had a real advantage over his competitors. Students would show one another the jokes and keep their menus to hand.

Not sure if it helps but it does show something simple can make all the difference

Stretchy time will tell if it was worthwhile my bets are that it will be a failure your saying it will be a success. Let us know in a few months if it worked.

I am not saying that it will or will not work, I was simply stating that the logic you used to conclude it wouldn't work was flawed. Just because it didn't work for you, that's not conclusive evidence that it won't work for the op. You could just have easily done it wrong.

Leafleting is one of those things that can be incredibly effective if done well, or can be incredibly ineffective and inefficient if done badly.

My other point was that it was a very old thread, bit you missed that too.

The trick to achieving results with leaflet distribution is using a reliable delivery company. A bad company will produce bad results (ie the leaflets will not be delivered properly) and a good company will produce good results. This is assuming you are hitting a suitable area eg council estates for fast food or better housing for gardening, cleaning etc.

.

Agree with that. With my own campaigns it can be hit-and-miss. If I deliver 1k leaflets business to business (which I do monthly- costs around £200 print and distribution) and I pick up just one new client (0.001% response) my ROI could be substantial depending on contract size, not factoring in repeat business. I've had several campaigns which have returned absolutely nothing which I accept as part of the process. By the same token I've had people which have contacted me leaflet in hand over 6-12 months after a round has gone out so its hard to judge immediate return, I imagine those that keep leaflets keep them buried in a drawer somewhere should a requirement arise in the future. You ain't guna become rich from doing it but there is a reason why a lot of national chains and big companies do it; if only to remind people they're there.

What never ceases to amaze me is people pay hundreds if not thousands for print (which is often more expensive than actually distributing) then hand them over to a company offering to deliver them for a pittance, I don't have much sympathy if you find out paying someone £4/hour means your leaflets end up in the local river. Its about the worst economy "saving" you can come across in business.

I havent read the whole of this thread (mainly because i dont have the whole weekend free!) but it seems to me that we are looking at things in a very black and white way i.e. leaflet capmaigns work / dont work etc

I know quite a few businesses that have done leaflet drops indeed ive run campaigns involving them myself. The over riding experience was that some products and service do well others not so well, simples.

I ran a campaign for a local gym using direct mail / leaflet drops and the response was excellent. A friend of mine who was an IFA used leaflets and found that they didnt work very well for him in terms of ROI.

Horses for courses, test the water and if the response isnt great move on.
