Ecommerce with barcode/warehouse system

Hi

We are looking to move to a new website in the new year but want to streamline our warehouse process and integrate it if possible.

Ideally I would like to print sales orders, with barcodes on, warehouse picker scans items and there is an automatic feed with sales order fulfilled etc. This would hopefully prevent a lot of manual picking errors. Whilst we have a fairly good system in place at present, it is very manual and I would like to streamline it.

Any suggestions? I was considering magento but not sure if it has these capabilities, or there is an addon with these capabilities.

If you are interested in doing this with Magento give us a shout.

There is no existing Magento extension that does this that I am aware of but the principle of it is fairly simple.

Basically we can store whatever attributes we want against Magento products, so all we would have to do is store the EAN numbers for each product and then customise the invoice/packing slip to display that EAN number as a barcode image.

There are plenty of PHP packages that can create barcode images out there, so this project would be a case of pulling together existing capabilities rather than creating something from scratch.

In a nutshell, that means that it won't be too much work and therefore expense.

There are all kinds of other great reasons to use Magento of course.
