Hi everyone, I have been selling on ebay for a couple of years using the standard ebay store and listing templates and just wondered if anyone had seen any kind of increase in sales due to having a custom store front and listing template?

We paid a lot of money to get a store template and auction listing template done. Had bulk revisions so we didn't have to revise each item individually. It definitely gives that professional look, especially if you have a website and get them both to look alike. However, sales wise, nothing has increased or decreased.

We find so many people look at the title, photo then variations and hit buy. 8/10 buyers I deal with have not scrolled down any further to read the item description. But then, maybe they are on a mobile device.

I know the above statement doesn't go for all, however I have dealt with two very different items. One where a product photo tells all, edit one to show the sizes etc and place that in there too. However, another item has a fully blown specification, what it's made of, whats inside it, how heavy it is etc. Something you cannot tell from a photo anyway.

It's something I would place some money aside over a period of time and eventually get one done purely for a more professional look. I would also save a few bob next time around and go for a template where I revise each product. Any new items listed will just be setup with a saved template.

I have the same problem with people not reading the description, I would say around 80% of my returns are because people haven't read the information provided and just gone on the picture. Assumed/expected/anticipated it to be bigger are usually the term used from customers.

I will look into getting one done as I do want to look more professional. How much does one cost on average?

That's exactly what I get. Which Is why I now edit one of the photos to show sizes AND weight of my item so they have no excuse.

This really all depends on what you need doing and what company you go for. I have seen some start at around £169 + VAT. The one we had with bulk revisions etc was an incredible £2000 + VAT. (Basic package).

Complex eBay templates are dead. I compose all my listings in plain text in notepad. Keep it very simple with good pictures. Mobile shopping on phones, iPads, etc. is big on eBay, currently around 40-50% of my sales and rising. If they're using the eBay app they won't see any of you template and it'll probably look pants too.

There's still plenty of people around who'll try to convince you about branding, identity, etc. it's all nonsense, your eBay buyer really doesn't care about all that. Just the right product, at the right price and delivered fast.

I agree with the above, not only for mobile but I happen to think the standard page looks OK with a good selection of photos and some plain text. I increase the size on mine and centre it to give it a bit more prominence but nothing too flash and I certainly wouldn't pay anyone as I can't see much of a business case for it.

Honestly it's not worth the cost as everyone else has pretty much summed up.
You can include a really basic stylesheet in the html editor which will allow for a pretty nice look.
We use one that took about 15 minutes to mock up using bootstrap as a simple framework.
