Hi all,

I have a ebay store designing company started in jan 2010. I am planning to enter the UK market. Please suggest on how to market my company. I currently serve my clients in the USA. we customize ebay storefront, templates & also build websites for a very competitive price.

When I was looking for this service less than a year ago I could only find a handful of people. Frooition seem to dominate the market and sign people into an ongoing contract. They also have a lot of negative reviews. If you're any good I'd say there was decent money to make in this field.

I really appreciate your reply. I have quite a few clients in the US who are extremely happy with our services. I hope it continues here as well.
just curious...are you still looking for this service?

I did end up using someone (not frooition) with a £10/month ongoing fee - the claim being that Ebay updated stuff and this would pay for amendments etc.

I'm not entirely satisfied with mine as there are still errors in it which I can't even be bothered to point out to the designer now. I will be trying to design my own from scratch as I'm semi-confident I can get my head round it.

I chose this guy because I only had the choice between frooition with their growing negative reviews and a German company wanting £5k (maybe 5k Euro..can't remember). Having googled numerous times I couldn't find anyone else.

I found a software which I paid about 30 quid for I think (one off). I can design from their templates, it is not amazing, but good enough.
I have also used free service for some, frankly, pathetic design, but the weird thing was that I have had quite high sales with rubbish design. I have improved the design but it didn't seem to change much.

I have dreamweaver, and created a template on that from scratch. I'm terrible with html/coding/etc, but I managed to create probably the best template in my sector on ebay for next to nothing...all thanks to youtube! <3

I don't know how big the demand is for templates and such on ebay, but there really is the threat that people will turn to tutorials on YT and end up creating the templates for free.

Some guy on the wholesale forums made his money through templates: spicy auction templates or something like that...he seems to have done pretty well, might be worth checking out how hes promoted his service.

While there maybe a small number of sellers prepared to pay for a specific design or one that compliments their web site, I'm of the opinion that these sellers are a very small minority. Design counts for very little on ebay when it comes to getting sales, it's all about feedback and price. As long as it's neat, readable and to the point with all the relivant product details that's all that's required. For myself I've been selling on eBay for many years and my basic template hasn't changed much in 7 or 8 years. It took me maybe 15 minutes to knock out. My web site however, I've sweated blood over getting things just right.

As time goes on eBay is giving the seller less and less freedom to make pages their own, much information is outside the template in pre-filled areas, I've seen this move to standardisation more and more in recent years.

Web templates for new e-commerce starters on a budget is however one area I feel your efforts would be better spent.
