eBay shop to Amazon

Hey,

I have an ebay store at the moment and i'm looking to expand. I have though about opening an Amazon store. From initial research it seems they do take a larger cut of the final sale, correct? Also seems like money is a bit easier to handle as no Paypal involved. Amazon take payment and transfer to your account after x amount of days.

Has anyone on here had any experience of having an eBay store and then opening a store on Amazon marketplace? What are your thoughts?

Is there a way of automatically uploading your listings somehow from eBay to Amazon?

I list on Amazon with a free account at the moment. And for me it provides a good number of sales. I find it easier and also more straightforward to use you know exactly what money you will get and know it is paid by bacs every fortnight.

If your selling stuff thats already listed by another competitor it wont do any harm to put your stuff on and see what happens. You need a subscription account to edit or list new items not already on there though.

Amazon is great, especially if you're dealing with un-branded items - then you can get your own bar codes and create "unique" product listings on Amazon.

Yes, their fee is higher but keep in mind that it covers payment too - while on eBay there's additional PayPal fee. This effectively equals fees on both platforms, for most goods categories.

But yeah - just go for it and see how it goes!

Make sure to keep a close eye on customer service as Amazon can be as strict as eBay (and even more) when it comes down to customer satisfaction.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks,
Andy

Howdy,

eBay is not Amazon and Amazon is certainly not eBay.

This sounds a daft place to start from, but its shocking the mistakes made when trying to treat two differing marketplaces in the same manner.

They both work differently and if account that you have probably taken quite a while to learn eBay, then you should expect the same for Amazon. The way the inventory works is very different and should be your first point of focus, especially if your stock falls into categories that are gated and need pre-approval for.

Not enough space to types the ins and outs, but test lightly and work forwards, just like you did with eBay. Unlike eBay, there are no second chances, so treat their customers (not yours, this is a distinct difference) with utter respect. (not saying you won;t but getting back on Amazon is ni-on impossible).

As for tools, yes, start with their "Add a product" page, then inventory creation sheets ( https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/...cont_help?ie=UTF8&itemID=13461&language=en_GB ) and they have a category structure called Browse Tree Guides (BTG) see https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/..._cont_help?ie=UTF8&itemID=1661&language=en_GB

Hope that at least gets you starting in the right direction :)
