Ebay selling advice please

I've been a private ebay member for 9 years and have 700 feedbacks but I'm thinking of swopping my private status to be a business seller. It seems to make sense than opening a new account for the business with 0 feedback.

I'll be adding products as and when I source them so not a big glut of items to add at once. Would you open a shop or just list them individually? I like that rolling 30 day buy it now option, can I do that if I list them individually or do you have to have a shop for that? As I say I'm not new to ebay as such but being a business seller is a whole different ballgame.

Are the fees that different depending on if you list as a shop/individually?

The fees are different, but there is little difference other than the costs in being a business over a private seller, generally it is much cheaper being a genuine private seller.

Why not do a bit of research, a lot of free information on the ebay forums for a start.

Thanks MH1, I've been reading the ebay help pages but it's quite a lot to take in. I think it's easier to ask a question directly than understand their pages. I'd rather hear things from another users perspective as well rather than just what ebay tell you.

I don't want to list things as a private seller and get caught out doing it and suspended etc. Would rather do it legit if you see what I mean.

Yes I will use the ebay forums then, just used to using UKBF for advice!

i think you had better going on your ebay sell , because i think if you sell in ebay , the customer will believe you but not in other place .
also you do not need to put ads if you sell in ebay

Go for the Shop!

1) Lower listing insertion fees (only 20p)
2) Option to use GTC (Good Till Cancel) listing type (only available with shops)
3) Branding/cross-sell opportunities

Plus you can get SMP with a shop subscription which really makes your life easier on eBay by automating feedback and e-mails to customers, invoices and many more!

Thanks, just the info I was looking for! I wondered how emails etc were auto generated etc. Is that easy to do?

So to get a shop I need to upgrade my personal account to a business one first I imagine. Do you have to pay a monthly/yearly fee for a shop? I'm just wary that at first I've not got lots of products to sell so I don't want shell lots out before I'm generating a nice return back.

Yes, e-mails are auto sent by Selling Manager Pro (cost 5 quid a month).

Basic shop comes @ 15 GBP a month.
