Hi
I've had a customer who purchased an item from me, told me i had sent the wrong item, i foolishly resent him another one, again he said it's the wrong item. I finally asked for a picture, he sends me a picture, it IS the correct item, he just thought it would be 'softer' than what he wanted, even though the packaging labelled the firmness as the product as 'soft' (the 3 options being soft, regular, stiff).
Anyway, after sending these 2 items to Ireland (at my cost), the customer wanted a refund. Fine with me, asked to send back and would sort. As by now the refund window through eBay had passed (not sure how long it's open for, maybe 28 days?). I decided to refund with paypal, few weeks later hear that he's not had refund, turns out he doesn't have a paypal account he paid on eBay with his bank card, which doesn't show up on the eBay transaction (as far as i can see). Anyway, now the customer wants me to refund to their bank account. I would normally be fine with this in UK, however the bank charges £25 so he would be left with about £5 refund. Apart from the fact that the items were returned with boxes looking a bit dog eared (put that down to the post he used, but still...) now customer is being awkward regarding refund. Am i right in thinking as he paid through eBay (and subsequently paypal) i am within my right to say refund must be through paypal, especially given charges involved in alternate methods? Customer seems reluctant to simply open paypal account to get refund?
