eBay Business

Hi there,

im looking at importing products to sell on ebay meaning I need to upgrade my ebay account to a business account.

I am not sure if it will take of or if there will be any profit in it really. Should I register a business name, get a new bank account (standalone debit account) etc before even trying it out?

Up to you as to whether there will be any profit in it.

Buy cheap sell for higher price is what it effectively boils down to.

Whether you buy at 20p and sell at £2.99 or buy at £20 and sell for £50 its up to you.
Or higher or lower than those prices.

You register with HMRC (if self employed) - and best of all you are expected to make money before you pay any tax!

Government will allow you to make a thousand pounds without bothering them.

It all depends on how big a set up you are starting with

If small just keep it simple and wait to see what happens.

It is a hard game nowadays so don't get to excited or in to deep unless you know what you are doing

Will see how I get on. I have a Shopify store to. Currently trying a few different ecommerce options Amazon FBA also interests me but there seems to be a bigger investment to start with in terms of stock.

Can start FBA with a single box. Means that if you have to recall stuff it doesn't cost the earth.

Very true. Will scout around for potential suppliers

I know that Hemisphere Freight have worked with a few people who started with Amazon FBA, but found their costs too high once they had time to look around and research it. They would be a good company to talk to.

UPS are pretty good too. Even after starting FBA.
Except when amazon start storing trailers on site.

Keep it simple and set up a business account if it takes off. Also make sure you have a few different accounts as eBay likes to suspend accounts from time to time being the nice caring people they are

And not being idiots they can easily suspend linked accounts too. As they have done multiple times.

If you do want a business bank account and want quick setup highly recommend Starling
