E-learning software question

Hi there all

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I need to create a CPD e-learning course for a specific project - so I am not starting an e-learning business or anything like that. I am commissioning a company to create a video with voice-over from an existing slide presentation. So far so good. But I then need to add a number of questions to the end of the presentation and (if the person gets enough of them right) a way to print a certificate and send a notification to the admin team.

The CPD course will be hosted on the industry body's website and they have to be informed of the learner's participation and that they 'passed' the little test at the end so that CPD points can be awarded to them.

I don't have budget to commission a whole e-learning project. As I said, we will have the video. I was hoping to use one of the free software platforms to do the rest, but I literally don't know where to start! Which one? Can it even be done this way? I am happy to embark on a steep learning curve and get this on my CV :) but I do need to create something that works!

I hope someone can help. And before you suggest I use Google - I have done that. There are hundreds of e-learning platforms. I am hoping someone can help me with a steer in the right direction.

You'll probably need a developer to do this, or learn PHP, CSS, HTML and JS yourself.

Is this a one-off e-learning course or you need to create a few of these? The reason I ask is there are different ways you can approach this from a software perspective.

Based on what you have described, sounds very simple but from experience, the devil is always in the detail. For example, will all questions be multiple choice or different formats? Do you need to store personal details of the person completing the e-learning? If yes then data has to be encrypted and backed-up. Do you need to query/search the stored data? How many users are expected to complete the e-learning? Can any one complete the e-learning course or only 'registered' users are allows to complete it. Etc.

Without all these details, it would be difficult to advice.....if you want to discuss this further, please PM with you contact details I would be happy to share our experience in the same. We have developed something similar for a client and based on some assumptions, it might be possible for you to re-use it.

Thank you so much guys. I have been looking at Moodle, but it is pretty complicated for the 'dummies' user!

@jignesh - this is a one-off course. The questions are all multiple choice. As I said, the video will not be hosted by us. We need to supply a certificate at the end and we need to send some kind of notification to the trade body. Currently the presentation is done face-to-face. At the end we fill in a Word document that is emailed to the body with the names of the people present, informing them that these people have participated in this CPD training. That's it. So that would be the type of notification we will need to send. I want to automate all of it because we don't have the staff to deal with that admin.

    Hi Edelweiss,

    Apologies....I missed your post!

Not sure if you have selected a tool but if you are still evaluating, I would be happy to have a chat with you to see if we can share what we have developed for someone else.

Please PM with your contact details and we can take it form there.
