E-Commerce Website Creation

Hello All..

Just enquiring as to how much on average an ecommerce website would be to be developed and designed?

It's on behalf of someone else..

It's for a fancy dress company..

Been established on Ebay for sometime now, but they want to move to there own website..

Thanks

Plenty of developers on here who will be able to advise you. If they want a merchant account/payment gateway feel free to pass my details on. If they sign up you could earn a bit of commission. PM me for details :)

Go for ready made e-commerce websites where you pay monthly subscription according to the number of products you have. All of them have a big choice of designs and are customisable. They are good value for money I believe and are hassle free and easy to maintain. From the experience with one of my clients, doing the shop with a web developer will cost you more.

To make things even easier some of them link with online accounting software which makes your life easier as all sales are registered automatically into your accounts. Here are e-commerce solutions that link with KashFlow. Do try them out as few offer a free shop with up to 50 products.

Another issue will be marketing so look at the options that link with CRM systems and email marketing systems. This way you will save so much time and money because you will enter data in one system and it will update all others.

If they are not looking for some customized e-commerce solution, then magentocommerce is what suits them the most!

In short, here is what magento is all about:

""Magento is a robust e-commerce software application designed to be simple to customize.""

Please feel free to check: magentocommerce.com

Hope it helps

It depends on a great number of things, such as:

  • How much traffic do you expect to recieve (for bandwidth)?
  • Will you be adding the products yourself?
  • Do you require a logo design or re-design?
  • How many products do you have to sell?
You're probably looking at around £1000+ for a typical eCommerce website.

Not saying you are wrong mate, but I've priced up hundreds of e-commerce websites and can't say that point number 1 has ever come into it really. Obviously the hosting comes at a cost and that can be variable, but I wouldn't really cost that into the design and development.

I personally would put more empasis into the how many products section you mention, i.e. is the customer happy to save money and enter these themselves or would the developer be required to do this, if so what format are they in etc.
