Hi All

I am looking for a e-commerce builder either software or web based that I can upload into the domain I have brought.

I have no idea how to code a website. I have looked at shopify and open cart but neither seem to give me the functionality to edit the website in the way I want to. I need to be able to add categories to the home page and drag and drop images for products.

Thanks

Titan

Hi Ste

I want the website to look like my proteins website, but I am struggling to find a similar template if open cart had a drag and drop facility I could design the website myself

Make sense?

Thanks

It sounds to me like you want to be able to drag and drop to design something and then this will become your ecommerce website. Well building websites doesn't really work that way, essentially you need to learn to code HTML, CSS and PHP or pay someone to do that for you.

Having said that, this is probably the best attempt at doing what you describe:

But there's a reason you won't find any serious ecommerce companies using it. It may work for your purposes, it may not, but if your business grows you'll shortly be looking again at OpenCart or Prestashop.

I suggest if you wish to be competitive in this market then you find yourself a highly skilled web developer/designer who can create a unique website rather than looking like a copy-cat style of myprotein....

You can make Opencart do anything you like. The problem is not with Opencart, the problem is that you don't know how to do it and by the sounds of it don't want to spend the money getting somebody else to do it.

If you are on a budget, then you can buy a relatively cheap theme, but you can't expect that to look or work exactly how you may want it to.

If you have no idea how to code a website then you won't be able to replicate the look of another theme faithfully as most themes are coded by expert programmers. As mentioned earlier, get a good website designer or another theme—either way, you will have to pay to get the site looking and working properly. I would recommend something as simple as Squarespace if you had a few products, which is super simple to use and setup, but it's a quality system with a monthly price tag. It's a case of getting what you pay for.

It all depends on your needs but we often recommend OpenCart.

It's one of the easier to use eCommerce systems, so if you're going to do it yourself, or maintain it yourself it can be a good option.

Try a premium theme that's aimed at ease or use, or pay someone to build your site for you. There are plenty of designers on this forum that'd be happy to help. Once it's built you can always maintain it yourself.

But as mentioned, some learning is going to be required. Follow some tutorials, youtube videos etc. and you'll soon find you can use OpenCart to achieve what you want.

Obviously it all depends on how technically comfortable you are, but you're either going to have to learn and do it yourself, or pay/bribe someone else to do it for you.

The "easy to use" hosted solutions tend to be poor and far more costly in the long run (even for a year).

Any decent host will provide a One-Click installer so you can install OpenCart etc. in seconds, and you then won't pay an inflated price each month, but just for the hosting. You can then buy a premium theme to make things easier and/or pay someone to help set up your store for you.

    Good luck!
