    Can anyone help...

My mother/father in law has a DVD recorder that has stopped working, I've discovered the problem is due to it not having a digital tuner built into it. They have nothing else connected to the tv just this dvd recorder, the tv has a digital tuner.

I can take the signal from the tv to the dvd and record it, but you have to be watching the channel you wish to record, also the tv needs to be on..

I've thought about a digital box to feed the dvd recorder but this will just confuse them as its something else they'll need to understand..

Does anyone know if there is a better way to do this..?

If you get the same brand of DVD recorder as they're already using then it shouldn't be too hard for them to work it. If you get one with an inbuilt freeview tuner you'd plug the dvd recorder into the aerial first then use the aerial out on the dvd recorder to pass the tv signal to the tv. Then you could plug the dvd and tv together with a scart/hdmi connection so they got the best picture they could from the dvd player and could also watch channels independently on the tv.

My folks have managed to work one so I'm sure yours could manage it :)
