hello there,

anyone knows any reasons why my DVD/CD-W stoped writing cds?....can read perfectly but nor write...when burning a cd all seems ok but when i try to read it there is nothing in the cd. :(

Have you tried the cd's in another machine?

Have the drivers been update recently if you then maybe try rolling them back or if no try updating them.

Else it is probably a physical fault - Is the machine under warranty?

A new DVD R/W isn't that expensive and would probably solve it - if a new one it doesn't solve it then you can always get a refund and maybe look to see if it's a deeper configuration issue or maybe your graphics card.

To my knowledge there a two lasers/eyes whatever they are called in a DVD Drive.

One Burns, one reads.

They burning one does wear out and when it does the drive will still work like normal except the discs will be unreliable.

If the drive gets a lot of use the best thing to do is replace it as its probably poped it, £25 from dabs or similar.
