Duplicated FPS submissions

Hi,

in the previous year, I asked my accountant to start PAYE for my LTD company and put myself as the only employee which they did. Four months later I fired them for incompetence. Recently (a year later) I realized that through all past months they were submitting FPS on the last day of every month on my behalve with my income, and they still do it. They set it in their automated system and forget about it. I contacted them and it looks like they sorted the previous year, but I still have their records in the current tax year in my HMRC web panel.

During that time I was submitting FPS by myself, so it turns out there are duplicated records in HMRC now for current year.

I contacted HMRC but they didn't have any advice for me other than to contact my former accountant.

Is there a way to remove their records or turn them into 0 or to remove the one I send or turn them into 0?

Thank you

It's not as simple as removing the records I'm afraid. We do see this from time to time when we take on new clients.

You should be able to update/correct the year to date figures within the next FPS.

Thanks. May I correct every past month by myself or I have to ask former accountant?

I want to have a clear history, without duplicates in past months. I don't have an access to former accountant system, I submit FPS from another app. Is it possible to be done?

It sounds as though you have used a different payroll ID than your former accountant, and so have created duplicate employments at HMRC.

For the period up to 5 April 2020 file an EYU to remove all income from one of the duplicate records. For this year you could either file corrected FPS each month (showing both employments, but NIL pay for one of them) or, potentially, correct the cumulative figures on the next FPS.
