Am using URL Builder tool and creating some campaign for my product. My Campaign url is different from products url as its having utm_source=Email&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Email. My doubt is now same product has 2 url so does Google consider this as Duplicate?

Personally i would use a robot.txt file to disallow the duplicate url, if i'm wrong i'd gladly like to hear of another solution.

Hi dan thanks. In this case i have to disallow campaign url but its not within my website. i only generate that url using url builder for adwords purpose. Is it possible to disallow using robot.txt?

Hi Madeline

I'm not 100% sure, i only use the robots.txt to block urls in google so that it only displays the index page.

Your best bet is to sign up to google's webmaster tools and once you've logged in added your site etc, on the right hand side you'll have a menu, click on site configuration ands then crawler access.

You can then generate a robot.txt file, on the test robots.txt tab, you'll have 2 boxes, one where you can add the text that's gonna be in your robots file and the box below which will be the domain.

so your text should read something like

User-agent: *
Allow: /

Disallow: /*campaign/

add the domain you want to block and test. if it won't let you it should tell you saying not in domain or something.

You can then test to see if it's working at the bottom of the page, you can then play about with what you want to block etc and it will say if it's blocked or not at the bottom of the page on the right.

Hope this helps, not at my computer at the mo so i'm working blind and i've not done it in a while.
