Agree entirely.
I recall a few years ago being told that .biz was going to overtake .com and how we had to get one. We never did.
And past few years various chinese chaps kindly write to me to tell me that someone is just about to register pretty much every available TLD that we don't have of our company name. The funny thing is i ignore them and they never get registered.
.Tel is just the latest "next big thing" that will disappear without trace. The concept if flawed from the start... its supposed to make it easy to find someone. So who gets johnsmith.tel? There is only one domain and thousands of John Smiths.
In terms of company names, much better to just put it in google with any other info you have and it'll probably be first result. And you've saved 15quid.
