dot com advertising rather than local

I think over the years we've seen the likes of Facebook change its policies re advertising campaigns. They know they have a monopoly and don't seem to care if people seem to pay good money and get their interaction from the far east etc.

We then have the side with Google in that they too keep changing the goal posts on how websites show up.

I wonder, do you think all this is signifying one thing that it is time to take to the streets again advertising a business locally as opposed to online.
I am looking to take this approach from next week. I just find that when you add costs like credit card transaction charges along with cost of postage, it can being to put customers off buying.

What do you think?

Hi there
Interesting thinking! There's certainly less competition on the streets than there used to be! However, as an internet marketeer, I do think there is always a gap for everyone to find online, you just need to look in and around where everyone instantly heads to each a market. Your idea could work well if you gave everyone you met out on the street a special webpage to visit right away? Combining the on and offline worlds?

As a matter of fact i found the personal approach worked well. I concentrated on local bars and clubs. Places where i anticipate accidents happen the most. They were very interested, though one publican got a little annoyed when i dropped them on each pub table and presumable went to collect them up and bin them. But not before i'd had a chance to meet and speak to potential customers personally and give them each a card.
In another place the chap needed his laptop repairing as well.

In fact that happened too when i popped to the local shop to place an advert. Two laptop repairs came from it.
somethings the 1:2:1 personal approach can have a faster result than the online. Dont get me wrong we do need both. But hey it gets me out of the house for a while :)
