Im thinking about teaming up with a couple of charities that will appeal to my customers, help the aged and a north east childrens charity.

Now im not going to lie and say this is entirely because i want to do my bit, although that is one of the reasons.

My idea is to advertise on my site that x amount of any job carried out will be donated to charity £2 for a service £10 for an installation or whatever.

i will have a dedicated page on my site which will have a bit of info on each charity, and list every customer who has donated on that page and have a running total, this way they will be happy because they have done some good and it hasnt cost them anything and they will have evidence that the money has been donated.

i will also no doubt get a good link from the charities websites and maybe some local pr. i will also be able to display there badges on my site.

Would you think this would increase conversions?
and do you think its a good idea?, i know some people will say its morally wrong but at the end of the day if my conversions increase i will be happy and the charities will be happy as they will be a couple of hundred pound a month better off, everyones a winner.:D

also help the aged have an ongoing raffle so i could buy raffle tickets on there behalf, and you never know they might win something.

I'm all for charity, especially childrens and old peoples charities, but the idea of knowing that £10.00 of the cost of using you would go to one of these charities would stop me from using you. If I choose to donate to charity I do so freely, companies that try and force me to donate a fixed amount, don't get my business. Do the job £10.00 cheaper and if I choose to donate to a charity, that is my choice.

Having said that, some good PR about you in the local paper, you did a free service on the Salvation Army boiler and helped reduce their heating bills, would help sway me towards using you. Even if your quote to me was not the cheapest.

That's just me, I can be difficult and cantankerous at times, so the kids tell me anyway!!

personally i dont think its a great idea, i recently did a job for a bloke, i noticed he was in charge of a church fund from a little snoopin:cool:, they needed redecorating done, so i said we would do it free of charge and work came from the people who use the church, thats a better way to go about it.
