A friend has a site with a small Wordpress install which is used/updated once a year for a particular food festival. It's about 4 years old, 4 pages, not even on page seo'd really.
He has had an email from someone who wants to buy the domain as he is buying a Bricks & Mortar of that name, and only has a domain with a hyphen.
To clarify: My friend's domain: niceshop.co.uk
Potential buyers domain: nice-shop.co.uk
Bricks and Mortar shop name: Nice Shop

My friends domain is 123th on SERPs for a good keyword, the buyer's domain is 1st.

I think a couple of hundred quid will be all he'll get, maybe £350. Any views?
I know the value is what someone is prepared to pay, but I was thinking the cost of transferring the site to a new domain and a bit of bunce.

All depends on the level of interest, domain names are very subjective, some that you think may be good go for peanuts, others that seem obscure go for a fortune.

What's the domain worth to your friend? £350 for something that's hardly used seems a nice bit of pocket money.

When I sell a domain, I usually get the potential buyer to suggest a figure and then decide whether I'm happy with that figure and negotiate from that point. Some will offer silly money (in the £5-£50 range), others will make a realistic offer (these generally tend to be those who understand potential values)

Bottom line is if the offer is acceptable to your friend and the buyer, all are happy.

I think niceshop is a pretty cool name actually. I would advise seeing if brand bucket would be interested in marketing it for you (it's free) and you could fetch in the region of $1000+ if they feel it's eligable. Has your friend asked how much their willing to offer for the domain?
