Domain value appraisal

Hello.

My webapp is not doing great, thus I am considering to stop the service (or just move it to a less valuable domain) and make some money selling the domains.

The domains are: plancake.com, plancake.co.uk, plancake.it, plancake.org (+ I would include Facebook/Twitter/app-store accounts).

Also, Plancake is a EU trademark and I would be happy to transfer the property of it (I just hope this does not make the deal more complicated).

How much do you think I can make selling the whole lot? Or, if you don't have idea, any feedback or relevant topic would be more than welcome.

Also, I know it is quite straightforward to sell an individual domain (e.g. via Sedo) but who can I sell this whole lot in an effective way?

Just contact SEDO broker for advanced domain evaluation. I've got some successful sales with SEDO aid.

They estimate domains value day by day and have big internal database of potentially interested customers.

Maybe someone take a new look into your project and get it alive successfully, and you will sell domain + concept for a higher price

Personally I would take any 'domain appraisal' with a large pinch of salt. Domains are worth what someone is prepared to pay for them.

Do you think SEDO is the right place to sell domain+concept? I thought they only deal with domains. Do you think there is a better place to find a buyer?

Yes, I have had the same impression about SEDO in 2012. I couldnt find any place to sell my website (domain + scripts), so I decided to sell domain only, because it was a generic and catchy *.com domain.

Broker asked me if its possible to sell whole idea, and my answer was obvious. I dont think I was just a single case. Tracking my sold project i discovered that it was sold for the small hungarian investment fund.

Seeing that you asked for an appraisal ...

My own personal view is that your term "plancake" is pretty weak, i.e. it's not a particularly good made-up name for use as a brand. It doesn't really speak to me at all, and it sounds a bit like "pancake". So, in my view, the chances of you managing to sell this on the strength of the domain term alone, are pretty slim.

That said, you can look at places like brandbucket.com where people make up names and attempt to sell them. To make this work, you generally need to have "made up" a lot of "potential" domains, and assign a high price to each one, so IF you manage to sell one, overall you are up, to take account of fees for all the unwanted ones.

I guess you can never tell people's personal tastes, but like I said, personally I think your domain is very weak, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I agree that Flippa is a good choice of sales platform for a case like yours. Putting it up on Flippa will give you a good indication of its true worth, especially if you set a low reserve.

There is an invoicing system called Pancake and at first glance I thought it was this for sale. Thought it might be helpful to mention.
