Domain name(s) ?

I've been doing some research for my next domain name.

The product I'm going to be selling is very niche, I don't particularly want to reveal it yet so I'm going to use a different word as an example.


So using an example, here's my question:

"Cameras" provides 11,100,000 local searches a month

"Camera" provides 20,400,000 local searches a month




So do I go with:

customcameras.co.uk

or

customcamera.co.uk


I like the sound of the first one, but keyword and search volume wise the second makes sense. Right?


Hopefully some SEO wizz will be able to help me out.

The search will find camera from the word cameras so go with that one in my opinion

Thats why so many results on cameras its lumped the camera in as well ..

I'd go for the customcameras.co.uk solution. Google sees the difference between singular and plural. This means that you cover both: camera and cameras, but you also suggest variety using the plural. From the point of view of human perception and understanding, plural is more effective than generic singular ("camera", meaning any camera).

What you don't say is how much competition there is for the keyword you want? Camera/cameras are highly competitive, you need keywords with lower competition. I have a guide to choosing a domain name which I can e-mail to you. First step though is getting the right keywords.

thanks for your reply. My primary keyword has 18,000 local searches a month, and any other keywords I may target are significantly less.
