Does anyone have any useful tidbits of info, or some blog posts about how a domain's age affects its ranking in Google?

Only now is my old domain, with poor SEO! mind, (before my rebrand, but the old site is still online), getting recognised quite well by Google. I was hoping to read a few bits of info, or at least hear from you guys how Google deals with well-aged domains as i love a bit of knowledge.

Cheers

I doubt that domain age matters too much in ranking. If age is used as a factor, I would have thought it would be the age of your links. A crap site with no links that's 10 years old is still a crap site with no links.

Generally a domain that has been indexed for between 6-12months is considered "aged".

The affects of the actual age of the domain is probably not that great in terms of rankings so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Old domains used to mean trusted ones, but becasue of the growth of SEO in the past decade, Google have tweaked their algorithm to devalue it. It is still an advantage, but not as much as it used to be.
Apparently it makes more of a difference in less advanced search engines like Bing, Yahoo etc

Yup, I think how long your links have been in place is a sensible ranking factor. The domain age in itself is irrelevant.

Its not just about the age, but also if there are any aged backlinks which will help. I have, in the past, bought aged domains that have backlinks and they do give you a head start. One thing to remember though is make sure it is an aged domain that has been hosted, otherwise there are no benefits.
