I am a director of an Aviation Training business and mainly do my business in the UK, in the past I have done business also in Denmark.

A company has asked my me to do some training in 2023 in The Netherlands, but to get a work permit they want me to be an "Employee" and deduct relevant taxes in NL. They say I can reclaim taxes via HMRC but I have never heard of this, can anyone confirm this.

I want them to actually bill them directly from my company, but they are getting confused with work permits and employment.

Can anyone help me as to which is the best route and any advice I can give the NL company

Are you a sole trader or a limited company?

If a sole trader, it may be that NL deem you to be an employee and therefore the company must meet all relevant employment legislation, tax etc.

You need to take some professional advice - your accountant should be able to help with regards to reclaiming from HMRC.

I am a limited company, so before my company has just billed the EU company for services. As you say I guess they are confusing sole trader and ltd company status.
