Doing research on homecare services -- all opinions appreciated

For example,

Say you had to look for non medical homecare/homehelp for an older relation or friend for a few hours each day, say to help them out of bed and get dressed, bathing, cooking etc etc

While doing your own research into what company to use what would be the most important thing you would look for in such a company and were would be the first place you would look?
