Does anyone use PayPal Pro? What about fees?

Hi, Does anyone know what the fees are for PayPal Pro? I know you get charged a £20 per month set fee but don't know about the transaction rates.

I found the following fees but don't know if this relates to standard PayPal transactions or those taken with PayPal Pro.

£0.00 GBP - £1,500.00 GBP 3.4% + £0.20 GBP
£1,500.01 GBP - £6,000.00 GBP 2.9% + £0.20 GBP
£6,000.01 GBP - £15,000.00 GBP 2.4% + £0.20 GBP
£15,000.01 GBP - £55,000.00 GBP 1.9% + £0.20 GBP
above £55,000.00 GBP* 1.4% + £0.20 GBP

Also does anyone actually use PayPal Pro on their website? Any good or bad points would be welcome.

Hey,

We currently use PayPal Pro in the UK, yes, they do charge £20 a month + another £20 a month if you use recurring payments (like we do). The transaction fee's are based on your previous months earnings, and this seems to be automatically changed for us from the 1st of each month when you hit the tiers. Those are the correct ones, and they are about 0.5% more expensive if they are an international customer if I remember rightly (that might be PayPal transactions though).

The biggest downside we have is the fact that a lot of our American customers (and some UK) are unable to pay us using American Express/Diners cards, which is extremely frustrating at times!

If you are not too keen on supporting those cards however, I'd suggest PayPal Pro is the way to go, especially now we've been given a MasterCard linked to our PayPal account to make purchases where PayPal isn't accepted or when out and about.

You may find a Payment Service Provider works out cheaper (and maybe more flexible) for you depending on your turnover and transaction values. There are a couple of independent comparison sites you could look at such as PaymentBrain and Electronic Payments.

that's probably not a bad idea as it may take a while for sales and turnover to increase so using a cheaper, more flexible, provider to begin with may work out better. thanks for the advice.
