Does anyone use a pen instead of a mouse?

I know people use a digital pen more for picture or video editing or drawing. But does anyone use one just for general work? Always on the look out for working better, so wondering if a pen would be good.

No, but I do like a trackball rather than a mouse.

It Depends both on the Application and the User. For General IT, I use a Mouse (Left-Handed). For CAD and 3D Modelling a Pen Stylus & Digitising Pad. For Letters, Pen and Ink!

I am completely paperless. I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ for all my note taking. I then upload it to my Onedrive into the relevant project it relates to.

Other people in my field use an iPad equivalent which works well too.

I use a trackball. I find it reduces strain if I switch between that and a mouse.

I have also tried a "pen mouse" (cheap, same sensor as a mouse, just a different shape), and software that lets you use a tablet as an input device.

Yeah I'm not sure myself! But trying to image darting around the browser with a pen and think it might work. I guess the problem is how easy it is to type with a pen, not very. So you'd have to put the pen down and type, then pick it back up.

I’m the opposite. I record everything in a notebook

Have you tried dipping the tail in ink and trying to write something, the bugger won't hold still.

Pens all day long, even a pencil will do the job.

I guess for occasional typing you could use an on-screen keyboard and use the pen to type the keys like you would on a phone, but if you're doing any amount of typing it would be far quicker to use a keyboard. Then switching between a keyboard and a pen would be fiddly. They do keyboards with trackpads, but I haven't seen any that would integrate with a pen as well.
