Document Scanner: Recommendations

We have decided to make the move to a paperless office :)
My current copier/scanner is HP officejet6500 which has worked well since we bought it a year ago for printing/scanning photos etc. However, to scan one document instead of paper filing takes 5 minutes! This might not seem a long time but as we have a couple of months filing to catch up on with over 100 documents this feels like scanning is a much more time consuming task than sticking paper in an A4 file.
Can anyone recommend a scanner that would speed up this process?
Thanks in advance

This won't help, but I was in our accounts a while ago and a girl was putting paper work into a machine and I asked what it was and it turned out the be a scanner, but it scanned them in seconds, she must have done about 500 sheets in minutes, I was very impressed.

But I have no idea what make or model it is.

We use sheet fed scanners rather than flatbed scanners as we are almost paperless in my office.

My current one sat on my desk is a Fujitsu Scansnap S500 - highly recommended. You'd have to check the spec but I think it scans about 20 sheets a minute.

Nicola J you must be a mind reader!!

Ive done a little research and I have just saved the Fujitsu Scansnap into my favourites to show my partner later!! 20 sheets per minute! Sheesh and ours is a pathetic 1 per 6minutes!!!

I still have an old flat bed scanner at home and once you are used to a sheet fed scanner it just seems painfully slow.

Hi,
I work for Cleardata, a document scanning company. You may have already sorted out your scanner now, but thought I'd let you know about our company. We provide scanning services throughout the UK. Cleardata offers a service to scan back archives of documents. The company is also a reseller for Kodak scanners, so can sort out your requirements moving forward. Let me know what sort of volumes you have to scan on a daily basis, whether your documents are double sided and I'll let you know which scanner would be best.
