Hello everyone,

I have worked as a sports consultant for a number of years now. Having achieved national titles in my own sport I decided it was something that I would be pretty good at and could relate to potential clients pretty well with.

Recently I have been working with those who are not athletes but are serious about getting in shape. I have found although some are quite interested in the personal training type system (i.e. one to one sessions) quite a few are interested in having routines written up and then going on their own with a review every 4-6 weeks.

I was wondering if this is something other people have been experiencing?

I have seen a rise in Boot Camp/Military style training with personal trainers who put a range of packages together e.g. Bridal Bootcamp etc. Its a fun concept and different from the standard personal training, and plus its usually outdoors and all weathers!

My gym provides both services (i.e one on one personal training sessions, or a routine/nutrition schedule drawn up with periodic reviews) provided by self employed personal trainers, and both are popular. The option of not having one on one sessions X times a week seems to be particularly popular with young people and those who haven't been to a gym much before, as it provides them with the guidance they need without the hefty price tag that can be attached to personal training one on one sessions on a regular basis.
