I am new to UK Business Forums. Is there an open forum where I can see who is tweeting?

yes, i'm using twitter for me and for a business too.

twitter is great platform for connecting to other people or communicate with them.

to increase your customers or to find some benefits from twitter you should increase your number of followers so that you can say something about your business to them.

little tip if you want to take your tweeting to the next level: sign up to socialoomph.com - it is free and allows you to track whos tweeting about you, whos tweeting about topics you are interested in and also gives you the ability to shorten URL's as we all know that sometimes URL's can be huge!

you can do alot more with it too; worth checking out.

I use Twitter once in a while to post updates to my followers who are generally already clients.

My personal opinion is that unless you have lots of time to dedicate to Twitter there's many better options out there for marketing your website/business.
