Hi
Just wondering if anyone selling items online ships to all European countries, are there any problem ones? I get alot of people emailing asking if I would ship to Belarus, Lithuania, Slovakia etc I usually only ship to the more common ones like France, Germany, Spain, Norway, Switzerland etc and thought maybe I'm missing out on some more potential customers by excluding countries. What countries do people ship to?
Thanks

For Europe we ship to:

Austria
Belgium
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Bulgaria
Croatia
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France (inc Monaco)
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Iceland
Italy
Latvia
Liechtenstein
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Montenegro
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Republic of Ireland
Romania
Serbia
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland

In fairness that's mostly by courier rather than RM but we don't get too many delivery problems.

BTW....it might be worth removing your Fathers Day banner from your homepage....it would make your site appear to be a bit more "of the moment". A little update to your blog wouldn't go amiss either! Xmas and New Year is sort of, well, over... :)

1. we don't ship to Italy - too much fraud
2. we do ship to Russia but not the other former Soviet Union States.

Yes, we ship to both Malta and Cyprus.....as they are islands and cannot be reached by road (for European mainland we use DPD) then they fall into our worldwide (air) zones. There aren't too many places that we don't ship to be honest....it's simply divided into Europe (road) or World (air)....notwithstanding the odd package that goes by RM but that is size/weight/value dependent (for us) rather than location dependent.

I also ship to Malta by RM and don't have any problems but don't offer DHL. How about Cyprus?

Didn't notice Malta and Cyprus missing from the list.

Yes we ship to both.

Malta is an extremely quick service - about 3 working days.

Cyprus can be slow but always gets there in the end.

We haven't had any problems with Russia but we have had some go missing in Lithuania.

Worst for missing parcels is actually London.

Hello

We are an Order fulfilment company we have several Online companies that we store pick pack and despatch for, we ship to all countries RM Signed for and Airsure everything over 2 kilos goes via courier.

We really havn't experienced any probs however i know all our clients vet each order before it is downloaded into our system as they do get dodgy orders from time to time.

All you ecommerce companies have you looked to outsourcing your storage picking packing and distribution why not call me, we have been able to save our clients lots of time by outsourcing leaving them to the most important job creating new orders.

If Interested call Tara on 01543 683338

Good luck with your venture into the ROW

We ship to all European countries from incenselodge.co.uk

We haven't had any problems as yet but then again our items are low cost and not really likely to be target as good prospects for fraudulant activities.

If we sold high price electronics, that might be a different matter! As always, it's a case of weighing up the risk and excluding countries where you feel said risk to too high.

If you have a good customer base in the UK and want to expand, why not go bit by bit, start by incorporating Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Scandinavia etc and move on outwards as you feel comfortable?

Just a quick addon to the question, how to people deal with customs and duty and other couriers fees after the standard charges?

DPD for example charge an additional standard £25 for customs clearance and documents to a list of countries, Turkey is one of them.

We do get orders from Indonesia, and have shipped there. None, so far, from Nigeria. There are a range of checks you can do, including making contact with the client to ask them further questions.

The payment gateways can provide some help with this, too.

You do have to be overly cautious with some countries.

Trouble is, that doesn't really answer the question. Yes, of course you can speak to a customer to ask questions and get a feel but that isn't exactly scientific is it and if the scammer is very good they will be ready for that anyway.

And to the best of my knowledge, short of a caution on the payment conf, how exactly can or does the payment gateway actually help?

You orginally suggested that there are checks that can be made..... so far I haven't seen any evidence of any real checks per se, or none that really are of any value...just the same as everyone else really....speak to the customer if an alarm bell rings and get a feel for if they sound genuine.

Theres no doubt about it though that if something doesn't feel quite right about a particular transaction then it usually its dodgy.

Really? Just been looking and I can't find ref to an extra £25 for this destination? That said, I am not at the office so I'm maybe missing something (in fact I quite probably am!). I'll check again on Monday.

However, in general terms, we use our last years trading figures in terms of percentages to countries X, Y and Z (where those countries have abnormalities such as extra customs duty etc) and calculate the mean average cost to us across all consignments worldwide for the same period. We then apply this amount to all rates (where we charge for shipping at all) as it inevitably amounts to pennies across the board. We then re-calculate this figure each time that there are rate changes (or annually - whichever comes first).

We sell high end computer systems and monitor arrays and received an online order for 4 complete systems worth almost £8k earlier this year, but it originated from Ghana.

We were suspicious however we got in touch with the buyer, asked more questions and also for a copy of his passport and employer details.

Everything seemed fine so we proceeded with the order and everything was fine.

While I agree you should be careful for some destinations, don't discount them altogether. We would have lost out on a good sized order if we hadn't taken the extra steps we did.

I have answered the OP's question. And I have given as much information as I am going to in response to your question, as I am not going to put the entire company processes on here.

There is no 100% certain way of dealing with enquiries. However, we get more fraudulent orders from London than anywhere else in the world, currently.

Essentially, the most important, but not absolute principle, is what you stated. If it doesnt feel right, pursue checks until it does. And if it never does, don't ship.

Hi Lianne, I own a courier company and we regualarly send good throughout Europe fo many of our clients, some of which sell gifts online.
You are pretty safe all over Europe, the only difference being transit times. I would not restrict yourself in any way, there is no need to.

Good luck,

Mark

We ship all over the world, excluding the suspect Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda.

Surprisingly the country we get the most hassle from is Italy. They seem to hold packages in Customs for a very long time.

But the countries that you mentioned have always been ok for us so you should go for it.

Hi
I've added a load more countries to my site that I now dispatch to to. had an order to Romania today and came back through sagepay as high risk, 3d secure not completed so rang sagepay and card only used once before about 3 days ago so i cancelled the order. They said that all orders going to romania are going to be flagged up as high risk i guess like south africa is and that for international transactions even if you have the 3d secure you aren't covered.
