Do You Send 20 Parcels a Week?

Hi,

Im thinking of running an offer for UKBF members it all really depends on the response,

I was thinking along the lines of 10 buisiness who send at least 20 boxed items a week, delivered and collected within 30 miles radius of bolton and bury for £10 (usual courier exclusions apply, live stock etc.) with a weight limit of 40kg delivered within 48hrs of collection.

The important thing for us, is a minimum of 200 Parcels to achieve the target price.

The way i would work it for those who would send less than 20 i would pool under the same code internally,

Best of luck, but in all honesty it is not hard to achieve a lower national rate for up to 30kgs via dhl and others, I think such a service is never going to make you money in the long run, due too economy of scales.

Many years ago a m8ty set up £10 for up to 60kgs within 60 miles, 1-2 day service, but that was at a time where the big boys were charging £18-20 for 5kgs plus additional kg rate on top, he was flooded with work. Now the large companies have reduced their rates so much I find it hard to see how a small company could ever do well in such a market.

Thanks for input, i guess it would be expensive if i suppose you were maybe sending 4kg items etc, a fair point you make Leslie.

You see flatpack tables and chairs and single beds i suppose are more of my target your bigger items that i know some couriers wont take due to van space, i currently deliver for a couple of furniture shops.

If you wanted to send you see for example a flatpack wardobe or bed, im afraid there is no one who would deliver that for a tenner from Liverpool to Manchester.

I do take on board what you have said it has actually made me think about some wording for a mailshot, so your input is appreciated, fair comments.

Since we also run a car more for the secure courier side like transporting replacement laptops,phones, keys, and forgotten passports those type of things a bit more less obvious shall we say, which has been our main core of the business, i was looking to try to get another van busy you see, any thoughts to help or pointers would be appreciated..
