Do you Need a Special License to Sell Gold & Silver ?

Hi, I've always had an interest in collecting silver and gold and am thinking of making it a business.

I've started several successful internet businesses over the years and would like to start a website selling silver and gold bullion and coins. I don't intend it to be a 'pawn shop' type of business, but rather the retailing of new coins and bars in smaller quantities to the general public, although there may be the option for customers to re-sell their purchases back if need be.

I've just started researching but can't seem to find if there's any specific licensing requirements with regards to the buying and selling of gold and silver bullion in the UK.

Does anyone know if there's any specific requirements to start this type of business in the UK?

If you are buying and selling investment gold you need to let HMRC know so that your supplies are exempted for VAT.
