Do most of people delete spam mails without opening them? We found that most of our marketing emails had been labeled as spam and we are wondering if it is worth to continue sending emails to our potential customers.

All comments are welcomed.

We will only send emails to those we believe they might show interest in the products we offer. We never plan to spam. We never send emails to those that sell things that are different from us. we think that, as long as we provide high quality products and competitive prices, the emails we send should not bother recievers that much.

It depends. If the title is anything like interesting, I'll have a look if I have time.

I find it's a shame the path the web is taking, with people more and more closed on what they want/know (communities, ...) and less and less open to new stuff (considered as spam in emails). Not all unexpected or new stuff is necessarily spam.

I personnaly always delete spam before reading.

However, some people will always open spam before they delete. I's human nature to be curious!! Therefore if your goal is for a small percentage of target readers to open the spam, then you should actually achieve this goal.

Converting the read to a 'Sale' is the bigger challenge!!!

I'd say a key to that is to make sure you focus on giving pertinent information in your "SPAM", and only put a line on what you're trying to sell and let people go further if they wish. That way, next time, they'll open your email again...

I say this because I used to receive stuff from Salad.com (something about comminucation). They used to send a Tip Of The Week (like "Improving your sales", "Better Web Marketing") with some quite valuable information. Then at the end they put some links to commercial material (videos, books, trainings). I nearly bought something once. Then somehow, this changed, and they used to put less and less info and more and more SPAM, so I finally SPAMMED them. I thought it was a shame, because I liked their Tip Of The Week, and I really did intend on buying something at some point.
