Do Halifax allow trading names on their accounts?

I am embarking on another little venture, a very simple one and no need for incorporation etc - I will simply do this as self employed.

I have a couple of ltd' co's for my primary business but its just not required for this short term venture I am embarking on.

Problem: I have bad credit (CCJ & defaults) and will not get a new account anywhere. I have 2 halifax standard bank accounts and simply want to add a trading name to one of them (the one I never use), however Halifax don't do 'business accounts' - they refer you to one of the sister banks, BOS or LloydsTSB.

Does anyone know if they allow a personal account to have a trading name added so I can receive cheques? I'm guessing not as a trading name addition makes it a 'business account' technically, but just wondering and can't wait till morning to ring & ask them!

    Thanks.

I had this issue years ago. Are you sure you need to accept cheques? BACS or faster payment is quicker and easier all round.

I would love to but the company that will be making payments only pay by cheques - they will not entertain anything else at this stage. They are VERY large and I don't like it, they will just work with someone that does. So cheques it is.
