Do any Marketers work on a %?

I have a couple of great ideas for websites which could make a lot of money with the correct marketing. I am no marketing guru, I just make the websites.

If I was to offer a marketing expert a % of it's earnings in return for their help do people do this?

It wouldn't be one of those "make me a website and get a %" thing, as I would be doing the hard work of the Web Dev. It is literally just the marketing side.

Anyone can make a website, if I had an idea I could ask a web design company and it would be done. To make it work requires drive, determination and ideally a full contact book. I doubt any good marketers would work on a %, depends on product, the % and a whole range of other things. Some might be interested in a % of the equity I'd advise as well

I am in for that dude...may I offer my services for

erm, lets say 99% ;)

As Sirearl rightly points out, getting a website online is one thing, selling from it is a whole new ballgame.

Good luck with it though and I am sure someone will work with you for the right fee.

If you provide the design and all the content, plus articles used in marketing, and I just build the links and keep the domain name registered in my name (just in case), then I'm sure there's JV opportunities available :)

It is not so much the SEO side, it is the offline marketing / social media too. :)

I know a lot of people say "if you make me a website you can keep a %" which is why I was saying I would be doing a lot of hard work on it also rather than just expecting somebody to make me some money while I sit on my arse!

It depends what you mean by ' the marketing side'.

If I'm honest, I very very rarely speak to a web designer or developer who even knows what marketing is.

What exactly are you looking for a potential partner to do?

Have had a couple of interesting PM's from it already :)

It might not even be that much work for a marketing guru, they could just say "do this, do that" with methods that would work and make money from it. ;)

Generally create a buzz, hype and all those cool words :) Get people talking on social media and to their mates!

The strength of an idea precedes all marketing and development.

I've got a couple of ideas that i've put to my webguys. The difference being that I pay them to develop the site so they don't lose out, I do the marketing and make them work and we all share the spoils which keeps their interest and reduces my headaches.

I'll let you know if they work.;)

I know someone who has done work on percentage of results- but I'm not sure whether he charges in addition to that. I do know one of his services he charges around £170 for a 1 hour phone consultation on marketing your business, so you could pick his brains for that without offering a percentage of anything.

He started out in Direct Mail (and still does that) and he works with Andrew Reynolds et al so he's pretty top flight. Some amazing testimonials from 'names' as well as ordinary small businesses (ha I built his website and I got fed up inputting them all <just kidding> :) ).

I think it'd be poor form to give his name/website here (and not sure if it's allowed) but PM me if you need it.

I think what you are seeking is a joint venture partner. Someone who will share your interest and commitment to make this idea successful, and has the marketing expertise you need.

Then you can both plan and commit the required technical and business development resources, and share in the fruits of the outcome.

A JV partner will share in ownership and risks of both the business idea and the outcomes. If you don't want another party to have a share in your business idea, then its likely you'll have to pay them to act as your agent to promote it.
