DIY Personalised Mugs

I've been looking through the internet to no avail.

I have bought some mugs and want our company logo and details printed on them. I'd rather invest in the relevant equipment than feel like a mug when I pay £5 per mug to have some other mug do it.

So how does it work, I've read all sorts, like painting it (No chance), putting them in the oven (Yeah right) and some technique which involves putting paper onto the mug and covering it in some wax or glue or something and then putting it in the oven.

Does anybody actually know or does every company that claims to personalise mugs actually send them off to another company, who send them off to another company, who eventually use their 'technique'.

This is up there with "Is Santa real?" for me, so be nice!

Depends how many you would like really..... there are a lot of people that print mugs via dye sublimation, but if you are lookig for hundreds they will be done by large printers.... easy enough to do if you have the gear - thats the expensive part...google should give you some good companies...

Btw...dye sub mugs are printed in a press......or an oven :)...

I only want a few. Problem is, at such a low quantity, I am being quoted IRO £5 just for the printing. Each. All I want is a one colour logo and text in a different colour.

I'd buy the right equipment if it's cheap enough, may come in handy in the future. But I'd rather somebody came up with what I need and told me I could do it in the oven!

if you are using dye sub (which Id recommend for this small quantity) then you have to print on dye coated mugs... I would still expect you to get the job done for not too far off a fiver each including the mug... I used to go on "dye sub forum" (search google) - you will definately get the job done there...

As long as you provide a High-def image, and use the correct wording, i.e. spelling etc... Vistaprint is probably one of the best solutions for you... Majority of printing companies out there will want to charge you for plates, per letter etc even design...

Go online now you may find you could get one free (all you pay is postage and packaging)... I got two done up for £5.26 a few months back, can't complain the design was my own and they looked pretty damn good tbh

Check ebay. Lots of sellers with wrap around mug presses. You will also need a dyesub printer and inks. Make sure that you order good quality dishwasher safe mugs. Good source is one of the guy's on the dyesub forum.

i used to customize items like mugs, mouse mats T-shirts etc using a heat press. It was a couple hundred but it was perfect. The ink used was machine washable and remains a solid print to this day and hasnt faded and that was over 3 years ago.
if you want to do your own advertising/brand materials i would say buy a heat press. Good investment for any company.
