Diverting a landline to two mobile phones?

Good Morning!

I run a small mountaineering guiding business, and currently there are just the two of us in the company. We both guide in the mountains most days, but also deal with all the admin/enquiries etc.

Currently, the office is in my house, and the main contact number (listed on our website) is our normal household landline. As we're often out and about, the landline redirects straight away to my business partner's mobile. My mobile number is also listed on the website, in the hope that if he can't answer, the caller might try my mobile. Our landline is with BT, and so diverting all calls to a mobile is rather expensive (that said, we don't get that many calls).

Is there a cheaper (more efficient) option, such as using a service such as a Virtual Landline or similar, and is it possible to divert a call to both mobiles at the same time, so that there's a greater chance that one of us can answer the call, and can it also be set-up so that if a voicemail has been left, it notifies us by email?

I used to divert a LL no to my mobile years ago when it didn't look right to have a mobile as a main number but nowadays that's changed a lot. Why dont you put both your mobile numbers on the website. The type of people who will be your customers would surely understand the fact that if you dont answer the LL then you will be out doing the ' job '. Even put a brief explanation under the LL....

I'm not sure on calling both mobiles at the same time, I know it's possible to call multiple internal extensions simultaneously. However there are certainly various providers who can provide a landline number and at least forward it to a single mobile, probably for much less than what BT charge. Search for "VoIP" (Voice over IP). I would recommend Dial9 - https://www.dial9.co.uk but there are others to choose from.

I’ve used cjd’s company voipfone for about 6 or 7 years in that exact setup. Calls to the landline call 2 extensions. These extensions forward to 2 mobiles immediately (they are virtual extensions, nothing is connected).

Things to watch out for are voicemails on the mobiles will answer the call and stop the other person getting it and you can’t easily tell if they called the landline or your mobile if you want to have the callers number displayed. For that reason I now have a dual sim mobile, which works brilllaintly. Before that I just had two mobiles. My colleague just uses his single phone.

It’s not expensive at all. Call quality has been good. Rarely needed any contact with them., but when I have it has been efficient and knowledgeable.
