Distance Selling

Hi All

I am a little confused by the distance selling laws. I supply servers to customers. The servers are ordered in and them adjust to spec requirements. The server are then build say with open source software and are then dispatched to the customer.

Now being I have had to order the item in, would this make it a special order and not returnable within 7 days under the distance selling?

If I have purchased and item and they are able to send it back, I would be out of pocket for carriage to the customer and carriage to the supplier. Chances are I would not be able to return the item myself as it would probably be more than the 7 days.

Can anyone shed any light here for me

You're in luck then, the distance selling regulations only apply to business to consumer transactions, not business to business transactions

So as long as your terms and conditions are water tight, you can have whatever you like as a returns policy. Also remember that your suppliers are unlikely to honour the DSR if you are a business yourself.
