I know there are Google Reviews and Trustpilot etc, does anyone have the star rating displayed on their website and is there any value to doing so ?

Basically i am thinking of linking to the Google or Trustpilot site to display my star rating on my website and then customers can see the reviews?

Do you all find this works well?

I run a small website design business doing front end and backend work ?

This is my concern I don't mind about paying trust pilot but I don't want to come off as cheesy with lots of positive reviews as I don't want people to think I'm fake.

I know myself I tend to ignore reviews people wrote but it does make us feel more comfortable seeing them.

I am still undecided.

Any other thoughts for or against?

Trustpilot is one of the review sites I do not trust.
Claiming 5 stars on them I'll ignore when deciding to use a company or not. Negative reviews that get wiped... The benefit to the business is obvious, the benefit to the consumer is rather more problematic when most businesses have 5 stars it appears...

No it doesn't as they are too easy to fiddle

This.

I pay little, if any, regard to reviews. This can go both ways. Look at the reviews of the car you drive. You will find a number of customers claiming that the company that made the car are murderers, on the fiddle, and that the car is a death trap that breaks down every Thursday. On every second Sunday.

And yet, you like that car.

Do the same thing with the last holiday resort you enjoyed.

Now go to Yell. You will find people saying they are great.

See what I mean?

We are off to Javea at the weekend and one of the reasons that we go there is because of the number of very good restaurants in the area but according to TripAdvisor over half of the best ten restaurants are curry houses and the Michelin starred restaurant is about 23rd

One of the fish and chip restaurants is apparently the best fish and chip shop in the whole of Spain according to one half witted reviewer

Yup. We have just returned from what is, according to the reviewers, an utterly terrible place with disgusting beaches.

What we liked about the place most was - no wait - the beaches.

I get a lot of business from having good reviews on GMB, much better than all my competition, I'm having a new website built soon that will have the reviews front and center on the homepage. This will generate a lot of business for me.

Don't listen to this bunch of cynical old business farts, good reviews work well.

I think reviews are great as well, but I prefer to post mine on my own sites, I ignore review sites since if the client buys advertisements etc off them, the reviews can be manipulated.

I’m sure there are some honest review sites, but letting the client know which ones can be trusted is the problem.

Reviews are tricky, there are so many bad ones around that all reviews seem fake and the effect is lost. That being said I do read reviews as you can normally tell which ones are real. I also wouldnt touch something with 1/5 stars.

Setting up a website it was suggested on here that I contact Google for some advice in regard to our ranking on Google. The gentleman at Google I spoke to said he could see we were getting good reviews but we had not responded to them, thanking people for the review etc. and it would be a good idea for us to do that to improve our ranking. I guess of you linked those reviews to your website it could only but help.
