Display block of content on page for set amount of time PHP

Anyone got the code or can point me in the right direction for doing this?

I want to display some content on a page for just 1 minute every day
The minute it will be displayed wants to be random (it can be based on server time)

I preferably want 2 versions, one be based on a refresh the other not.

ie.

version 1: the content only displays if someone lands on the page during the minute

version 2: if the person visits the page at 5:15 and the content is set to display at 5:18 the content still appears for 1 minute at 5:18 without them having to do a refresh

Just an FYI:

Version 1. Can be done with PHP only
Version 2. Would need a mix of PHP and perhaps AJAX requests to continuously check every say 10 seconds or so for any update for the alert.

If I get a minute I will try make an example of Version 1. But thought I would just note this here for you in the meantime.

Agree with webdesires although V2 - if the content is not sensitive you could pass the time it should show into the page on render with the javascript just seeing if that time was reached. No call back required.

Both are pretty simple.

Yes I would go down the Ajax route, it will work for both scenarios

There is no reliable way to remove the content after 1 minute. If it's shown, it can be made to stay there very easily (beyond the minute).
