I know it's a bit anal but I like to try to get high scores in developer tools but notice there is a discrepancy between the score you get there and the score you get using Pagespeed Insights.

Which is considered the most accurate and which do most here use when testing, developer tools or pagespeed insights?

I use insights and chrome and they never agree. In fact I can get different scores on Google insights depending on when I run the test.

I'd take an average of the two - in my case that's 93/100 (from 92 on insights and 94 on chrome)

I also use these as I get a lot more detailed data:

The reason usually comes down to the settings.

In Lighthouse (Dev Tools) you actually have access to different types of settings.

That's usually why people get different scores.

I tend to favour Lighthouse now for that reason. It's easier to just stick to one and of course, it's nice to have a bit more control over how the page is being tested.

Yes, but both insights and chrome use lighthouse - this is why he asked the question.
