Discharged from bankruptcy

I went bankrupt for my personal accounts , I was discharged back in 2022 but most of my creditors are still defaulting each month .

I lost my demand letters with the account numbers on them , the debts were sold to various companies . so all I have is my addresses and the last 4 digits of these accounts (from credit file) I’d like to contact them to ask them to settle those accounts .

Is there a template letter I can use to write to the creditors ? Will they be able to find my account using my name , addresses and last 4 digits of accounts ?

Any help with these would be appreciated.

this is a bit confusing. You were made bankrupt presumably because you couldn't pay your creditors. But you had debtors at the same time and your trustee in bankruptcy didn't ask them to settle their debts with you so that you could pay off at least some of your creditors on a pro rata basis?

And now that you have been discharged you want your creditors to now pay you what they should have paid to your trustee?

Am I overlooking something here?

These will show up on your credit report for 5-6 years. I've been through this. The last debt was removed from my credit file after 6 years. After that now one can see that you had a bankruptcy.

I don't think it's that easy to clean your report now. Only creditors can remove debts from credit file if they are willing to do so.

They stay on your credit report for 6 years (although they should stop chasing you for the debt due to your BKY).

After 6 years remind them to update their records, if they haven't done so.

They probably were, if they were incurred pre bankruptcy. There are not many liabilities that survive BKY.

More info on surviving liabilities can be found here:

All the accounts were in the bankruptcy , I have 2 more accounts open now which am paying . I’m going to write to them and ask them to settle the accounts and stop defaulting . I just seem to remember seeing a template letter that’s written very professionally that uses all these legal terms , and that some other company can get involved if they don’t comply

it doesn’t make sense to keep defaulting the account that is no longer active , I no longer have any debts after the bankruptcy . That doesn’t seem right to me 🤔
It is a fact you owned the money, it is a fact you did not pay. They are doing nothing more than starting the truth.

They will show this information for 6 years.

If lenders could not see this you could borrow again post discharge, and that would be a high risk activity for the lender.

You no longer owe the money.

You do however have a history of not paying your bills. That information remains in the public domain for 6 years to enable companies to make an informed decision to advance you credit or not.
