Hi

I have two issues, I'll try and keep this a brief as possible.
Just over a year ago I took out a service for a mail forwarding address, which incurs a monthly fee.
As a promotional offer I received a couple of months free. After this initial free period, I didn't receive any paperwork or correspondence until a couple of months later when I received an invoice with a late fee added to it. I contacted the company to tell them I hadn't received an invoice or any instructions for payment, they apologised and removed my late fee. Unfortunately the same thing happened again after another couple of months so it was recommended to stop this happening again that a direct debit be set-up to take the monthly amount. I filled in the dd form and I was emailed to say sorry for the inconvenience and that my direct debit had now been set-up.

I received no further invoices for another 6 months, then in October of this year, out of the bue I received an invoice for the month of September, again with a late fee applied to it. When I investigated further I noticed no direct debit had been coming out of my account. I tried on several occasions to speak to the company about this but each time I was told someone would call me back but no one ever did! It wasn't until I received an email a couple of weeks ago saying I had a back-log of 8 months to pay, so I replied to the email stating I had been trying to resolve the issue without any joy, I also forwarded on the email which stated my direct debit had been set-up.

Now here are my two issues....

1. I am totally disatisfied with the service and I am going to cancel but I wondered if I am legally obliged to pay all of the outstanding?

2. Now this is where I get really annoyed, I received an email with further apologies and they have confirmed the problem was at their end, the email also said the direct debit has been put in place and they have also PROCESSED A PAYMENT for nearly £600!! (the outstanding amount) I didn't think they would be allowed to just take a payment like that without speaking to me first?

Any advice? Thanks in advance.
