Hi all,

We are in the processing of launching a web based loyalty program for small businesses. This will be a stand alone tablet based loyalty that is very easy to install, run and operate by both participating merchants and customers. The database will be managed by us, leaving merchants plenty of time to concentrate on running their businesses. Although this will be run like a Nectar card, each merchant will have their own custom display screen on the tablet and points can only be connected from the merchant where the purchase was made. All the hard work of writing software application has been completed and the program will start running in Beta stage.

Has anyone here, whether small or large retail business ever used or seen such a provider in their area? Would you be able to share your experiences eg what you liked and hated about such a service? Or if you ve never used one would be use such a service to encourage loyal and repeat customers? According to the research that we conducted in our area and also seen somewhere else 80% of business revenue comes from 20% of loyal customers, which suggest that digital loyalty programs could really benefit independent business who would be able to compete with big or national stores. Any feedback on this will be highly appreciated.

There are already a load of these schemes out there. None of them get any real traction because there rewards aren't of any great value. You have to have unversal coverage for people to build up enough points to make the scheme attractive.

Good luck and hope it goes well but I would avoid making it tablet based, it needs to integrate with existing epos systems.

I've seen plenty of the coffee shop stamp type loyalty apps but they haven't made much impact.

As fisicx says you need massive coverage and I could only see it working if a large number of independents signed up. The loyalty style apps if geared toward a single outlet, be it a shop/restaurant won't work as customers don't want to keep track of a dozen different loyalty schemes.
