Hi

I have come up with a crazy idea of a facebook application where you can post your property for sales or let. which is then displayed on your porfile page and also the application offers a search facility for looking for property.

Can this be done???

It could definitely be done but as above any search is likely to return properties for sale by people who are not 'Friends' of the person doing the searching.

The seller and the vendor would need to become 'Friends' to allow the application access to the vendor's profile.

The person would have to be a friend to see it on the profile but you can certainly set it up so that someone who isnt a friend who has also added the application can use it to find the property.

Certainly can be done.

Is it to integrate into an existing property site/ system or is it blank paper time?

Yes I agree with this I didn't make that clear in my reply. The 'non-friend' could view the property details and the Facebook user's name but would not have any other details from the profile (unless it was an 'open' one)

maybe it could work a bit like the dating applications where you can run a search and then use a contact "style button" (like a wink) to establish interest. Or even a contact the owner via message button. That way you wouldnt need to be friends with the property owner.

It would be completly facebook based so no integration from any other sites.

Thoughts??

also any suggestions how i could produce revenue from this??

The million dollar question :D

It has been a long time since I looked at the T&Cs for Facebook applications to know exactly what you can and can;t do to monitorise your apps.

The norm would be to charge for upgraded features for their listing but dont know if this is allowed. Other than that there is the obvious one of affiliate links to companies that are involved in the whole home sale/ moving/ buying process (eg removal companies, solicitors, surveyors)
